The Nigeria athletic, Tobi Amusan has failed to defend her 100 meters women hurdle title at the 2024 Africa Athletics Championship due to illness.

The reigning sprinter and hurdler who had been aiming for her third consecutive gold medal but failed due to unforeseen health circumstances.

It would be recalled that Amusan secured victories in the women’s 100 metres hurdles in 2018 in Asaba and two years ago in Mauritius.

If she had won, Amusan would have joined Maria Usifo and Glory Alozie as the only athletes to win three consecutives African title in the women’s 1000m hurdle.

How, Nigerians Adaobi Tabugo has already qualified for the final. Team Nigeria so far won two gold medals…
