A Nigeria policeman has allegedly manhandled an elderly woman inside her car in Alagbado, Lagos State.
In a widely circulated video which has gone viral on social media, it shows that the officer aggressively manhandling the woman inside her car earlier this month.
According to the woman, who was heard screaming in the video, the officer was demanded ₦250,000 from her and she refused to pay, leading to the altercation.
Responding to the video in a statement on Wednesday, the Lagos State Police Command said it had commenced an investigation into the circumstances leading to the altercation.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command ( SP. Benjamin Hundeyin) Ikeja preliminary investigation reveals that the incident took place in Alagbado area of Lagos State in the first week of September, 2024.
Saying the Lagos State Police Command totally condemns the unprofessional conduct of the Inspector as it does not represent the ethics and operational standards of the Nigeria Police Force.
He however assures Lagosians that the investigation will be swift and thorough while ensuring that the officers will be disciplined as appropriate and members of the public will be updated accordingly.
