DELTA HIGH COURT SENTENCE POLICE INSPECTOR TO DEATH

A Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba, presided over by Justice C D. Diai has sentenced Ubi Ebri, a police Inspector to death for Murder.

The police Inspector was accused of Killing on Mr Ibeh Onyeka, a telephone repairer and seller on 5th April 2023 while on a stop and search duty along Ugbolu Asaba Road, in the State Capital.

It would be recalled that the incident caused Pandemonium in the city as youth took to the Street in protest against the killing.

The Prosecution was led by a Director in the Ministry of Justice, E.H Edema, who alleged that the defendant was part of the police patrol team that mounted the stop and search exercise.

Speaking further, he said the defendant open fire on the vehicle leaving the deceased dead after the bullet hit him on the head.

However, the wife of the deceased who sat in the front seat with him was unhurt.
The court then sentenced the police inspector to death.
