The Niger State Government has concluded plans to engaged 10,000 hectares of Land for cultivation of Rice, Wheat, Shear nuts and other Agriculture produce in each of the 25 Local Government Areas of the state
This was disclosed by Hon. Commissioner, Niger State Ministry of Agriculture, Hon. Musa Salihu Bawa Bosso during a chat with Achievers Magazine recently in his office.
The Commissioner said the 250,000 hectares of lands that will be cultivated across the 25 local Government Areas of Niger State will boost Food production in Nigeria and also create 500,000 employment opportunities for our teeming youths and Women.
He observed that Rice, Shear nuts and other 14 Agricultural products in which Nigerians spent trillion naira to import has been considered for Cultivation, Processing, Quality Assurance, packaging and Marketing across the country and beyond.
According to the Honourable Commissioner, the Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago has also ordered for 300 tractors that would be used to enhance cultivation across the 25 Local Government Areas of the State.
The Honourable Commissioner believe that the intention of Rt. Hon. Umar Bago’s administration to developed the Agricultural sector which has long being unharnessed by previous Government over the years will transform the state economically.
It should be noted that Niger State is blessed with the best arable land suitable for Mass Production of Foods and other Agricultural products against which Nigerians spent #1.8 trillion annually for its imports, a situation which is counter productive to the nation in general. the commissioner declared.
Hon. Bawa emphasis that the current strategy of Rt. Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago administration towards the re-engineering of Agriculture and Agricultural Sector in Niger State would end importation of Foods and other Agricultural products to the country which gulps trillions of Naira yearly.
Hon. Salihu Musa Bawa Bosso commended the effort of Niger State Governor towards re-positioning Niger State greatness through harnessing the potential in the Agriculture sector.
“The era of over- dependence on Federation Account in Niger State is gone as the Executive Governor of the state is ready to harness the potential in the Agricultural sector for economic development”
Hon. Bawa then urged Nigerlites and Nigerians residents in the State to support the Bago much thriving agricultural and food surplus plan.
