No fewer than three persons were allegedly killed on Wednesday night by Suspected Herdmen at the Mbasombo community in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.
The marauding herders according to the source stormed the village under the cover of darkness to carry out their evil act.
Residents were said to be asleep when the Herdmen fire gunshot indiscriminately and set many houses ablaze.
This sudden attack made some people to flee their homes into surrounding bushes and nearby villages.
“Three corpses were recovered while several people sustained injury,” source disclosed
Responding, the Chairman of the Gwer Local Government, Timothy Adi, confirmed that three deaths were recorded but added that the situation was relatively calm.
“I’m in a meeting. The casualty figure is three; the situation now is relatively calm.” he declared
The spokesperson for Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene also confirmed the incident in a text message sent.
