The Niger State Universal Basic Education Board will collaborate with  Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai to boost the capacity of its teachers in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The Executive Chairman of the Board, Mallam Mohammad Baba Ibrahim stated this in Lapai when he led a delegation to the Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai .

The Chairman noted that, the team is here to seek the collaboration of the university to have a diagnostic review of the agency in identifying its areas of challenges and properly prescribed solution that will reposition the basic education sub-sector in the State. He further maintained that,the board is disturbed with the low quality of education the Children gets from the School and in order for them to compete favourably well with others across the globe,”we must Device a means of teaching them differently through enhancing the capacity of teachers in an innovative manner, that is why this collaboration is very key to the development of our Schools”. The Chairman added.

Mallam Baba Ibrahim further stressed that, the State has huge potentials which requires adequate manpower to manage it. And the foundation to harness this potential has its roots at the basic education level.

In his response,the vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abu Kasim Adamu congratulated the Chairman and his Management team for their well deserved appointment and assured them of the University community’s support towards improving the basic education in Niger State. He however, commended the executive Chairman for opening up and seeking the support of the University. He reiterated that, if basic education succeeds ,it will have a multiplier effect on the quality of students they will produce in the University and it will translate to the development of Niger State as a whole.

Earlier,the Chairman and his team had an interactive session with the STEM project technical team to brainstorm on the areas of possible mutual collaboration.

As part of the Chairman’s engagement in Lapai is the visit to the site of the ongoing model science primary School for inspection.
