A 27 year- old dispatch rider has been arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad ( RRS) of the police command in Lagos State for allegedly stealing three(3) I phones worth #1.7 million entrusted to him for delivery.
The arrest of the dispatch rider was confirmed by RRS in a post shared on its official X handle on Sunday.
According to RRS, the suspect who was said to have stolen the phones , was arrested at Alpha Beach, Lagos State, after being on the run for eight months.
Speaking further, the RRS said that on August 27, 2023 , the suspect, while working as a dispatch rider, collected one I phone 14 pro max ( 128 GB) and two I phone 11( 128 and 68 GB) meant for delivery to a customer in Lekki, Lagos State.
” The suspect, on collecting the consignment, bolted and switched off his phone.
” However, a sustained discreet Investigation into the matter led to his arrest at lemon Bus – Stop, Alpha Beach, Lagos State” it stated.
According to RRS, the suspect has confessed to the crime and that one of the phone had been recovered.
The Suspect confessed to have sold the three I phones in Obalende for #300,000.
Also, arrested with him were two buyers, while one of the I phone was recovered” it said
