Police Command in Lagos State has arraigned Chigozie Chukwu before Magistrate O. Y Adefope of the YABA CHIEF MAGISTRATE COURT for alleged attempted Robbery, stealing a Ford SUV and possession of suspected hard drugs.
Prosecutor Haruna Magaji informed the Court that the alleged offences occured around 4:00pm on April 9,2024.
Magaji said on that date, a call was made to the police Station reporting two suspicious Vehicles parked near the CONOIL PETROL STATION and STERLING BANK along Apapa – Oshodi Highway in Lagos State.
The Vehicles was reportedly move by the occupants from the Gas Stations to near Sterling Bank after noticing they were being watched by Security Guards.
According to the prosecutor, the CP. Special Squad 11 responded to the report and successfully intercepted one of the Vehicles, while other escaped.
A search of the intercepted SUV revealed that the Vehicle was Stolen and substances suspected to be hard drugs were found in the Car.
Immediately, Chukwu the occupant of the Car was arrested and questioned.
He claimed that the substances was recieved from someone named Ebubechukwu in the Republic of Benin.
The Investigation further confirmed that the stolen Ford was property belonging to a Victim Named John.
Magaji presented a confession statement written by Chukwu and witness testimony from the CONOIL PETROL STATION Security Guards as evidence.
The alleged offences violate sections 412, 168(1)(2) and 329(a)(c) of the Lagos State Criminal Law( 2015)
