The member representing Ughelli North 1 State Constituency, in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew Omonade has been suspended for alleged gross misconduct.
The suspension order which was officially pronounced by the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor , was preceded with a motion raised by the Majority Leader, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi of Aniocha North on the floor of the House.
In the motion which was supported by Hon. Perkins Umukoro, Chief Whip of the House and unanimously adopted by the House, the suspended Lawmaker was alleged to have willfully and falsely perverted the proceedings of the House on May 8, 2024.
According to the Majority Leader, this violates the standing order and rules of the House hence the need for the suspension.
” Distinguished colleagues, following the unanimous adoption of the motion entitled ” BREACH OF PRIVILEGES” the Honourable member representing Ughelli North 1 State Constituency is hereby suspended by this Honourable House for 14 legislative days” the speaker declared.
