In a significant move to enhance livestock health, productivity and sustainability, the
Niger State Government has initiated the widespread distribution of essential vaccines to key veterinary entities across the state.
The Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, HON.Ibrahim Mami Ijah who flagged off the Statewide Vaccination Campaign recently, spearhead the initiative.
The distributed vaccine encompasses a comprehensive range, including vaccines for Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP) and Anthrax Spore vaccines for cattle, and peste Des petits Ruminant (PPR) for sheep and goat.
These vaccines are vital for safeguarding the health and well being of livestock populations.
Additionally, Mami said, the distribution also encompasses anti rabies vaccines tailored for dogs and cats, reflecting a holistic approach towards animal welfare and the safeguard of public health.
The recipient entities,comprising of State Area Veterinary Offices, Local Government Veterinary Units, and Private Practitioners, are pivotal stakeholders in the effective implementation of these vaccination efforts. There strategic positioning Ensures widespread accessibility and delivery of vaccines to livestock owners and agricultural practitioners across diverse regions within Niger State.
Emphasizing the significance of this endeavor, the commissioner reiterated its alignment with the principal vision of the new Niger agricultural policy championed by his excellency, the farmer governor, Umar Mohammed Bago.
This policy framework prioritizes agricultural development, sustainability and the enhancement of livelihoods within the agricultural sector.
