The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed the allegations from Rabiu Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the New Nigeria People Party( NNPP) regarding the Federal Government’s purported plans to declared a state of Emergency in Kano State.
Kwankwaso while speaking during the flag- off ceremony for the construction of 82 kilometres of Rural Road networks in his hometown, madobi, accused the Federal Government of Compromising the security of Kano State with its refusal to take away the heavy security operatives guiding the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.
” The people of Kano would resist any attempt to undermine the constituted authority in the State.
Responding, special Adviser to the President, Bayo Onanuga told the Nation Newspaper that Kwankwaso’s alarm was a “mere rumor”.
He said” there is no truth in it, the Federal Government can not declared any State of emergency in any State without the Involvement of the National Assembly.
“The National Assembly are on recess. No President can just wake up and declared a State of Emergency in any State”.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Usain Gumel, told the Nation that his men have a duty to protect both Emirs and refuted allegations that his men are basis during the Emirates crisis.
” We received about five court orders and forwarded them to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice. We are waiting for his response and directions.
“Till then we have the duty to protect the contending Emirs while awaiting the outcome from the relevants authorities.
