DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF EDO STATE
The reinstated Edo State Deputy Governor, Philips Shaibu, on Friday declared himself an unofficial member of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Shaibu spoke while appearing on Arise Television’s programme, Morning Show.
According to him, he’s still a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, because he was yet to severe ties with the party.
The embattled deputy governor explained his support for the APC governorship candidate in Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, by stating that he no longer aligns with the PDP.
“In PDP now, everybody can support whoever they like. On the issue of supporting a candidate, the constitution guarantees that you can support who you like and you can belong to any political party.” Shaibu declared
lt will be recalled that the reinstated Deputy Governor Shaibu had donated campaign vehicles to Okpebholo recently.
The donation which came amid his face-off with Governor Godwin Obaseki, eventually led to his impeachment as deputy governor.
However, an Abuja Federal High Court had reinstated Shaibu as deputy governor on Thursday.
