The Management of IBB Specialist Hospital has vehemently refuted the claims made by one Galadima Sani that his daughter died as a result of Non – challant attitude of Nurses at the Hospital.
Making the refuttal in an interview with Achievers Focus in Minna, the Chief Medical Director ( CMD) of IBB Specialist Hospital, Dr Bala Waziri held that Galadima’s claims against the Hospital were not only concocted but also misleading.
Dr. Waziri explained that the late patient in the first place was 5yrs old not 7 who was referred from Kafin- Koro General Hospital on 13th August 2024 with a history of Acute Kidney Malfunction which means that, hbinitio patient’s case was already bad before the arrival to the Hospital.
However, the Doctors assisted by Nurses swung into action with a view to rescue the patient even as they underscored the need for Blood infusion which made them (Doctors) to recommend for blood to be provided by patient relatives.
Meanwhile, the situation of the patient then was degenerating requiring an Oxygen before blood infusion but the patient’s relative resisted and as a result she got into Coma and died soon.
From the foregoing, it could be noted that the patient from arrival to IBB Specialist Hospital to her death was less than 24 hours which according to medical profession ” any patient taken to medical facility and died in less than 24 hours would not be considered medically as one that died in the Hospital.”
In view of this , Dr Waziri faulted the Crusaders’ Radio conclusion that the girl died as a result of Non- challant attitude of the Hospital Staff.
Stressing that the IBB Specialist Hospital is managed by senior medical officers with Intergrity and Commitment to the service of the State.
The CMD of IBB Specialist however advised Journalist to always adhere to Professionals ethics and code of conduct of their Profession especially fact checking and balancing before publishing their stories.
