The administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has stated that he will set-up a standing committee on the new national minimum wage.

Gov.Yahaya made this disclosure on Saturday in a press statement signed by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Gombe Government House, Ismaila Misilli, following his courtesy call to Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Speaking further, Yahaya revealed that the standing committee, headed by his deputy Manassah Jatau, is exploring ways to implement the new national minimum wage for workers.

The statement partly read, “Most states have set up committees; in Gombe, we have a standing committee headed by the Deputy Governor. They are working with the labour unions to ensure that we do the right thing.

“It is a law, but implementation normally involves consequential adjustment, and each state has to follow the process properly to get it right.
