The total sum of #50 million is being demanded by bandits as ransom for 10 persons kidnapped when they invaded Moriki community in Zamfara State on Wednesday.
This was disclosed by a resident of Moriki community while speaking with BBC Hausa Service on Thursday.
He disclosed that bandits have been disturbing the community and had earlier kidnapped other locals in the community.
” The bandits claimed that their cows were killed by the Commander in the community.” He said
In view of this, the Bandits decided to attacked the community and went from house to house picking our people,and gave today as the deadline for us to pay the N50 million.”
” Not long ago, they collected N20 million from community members to allow the locals access their farms. The community is not secured at all.”
” Anytime the bandits needed money, they will attack the community to abduct people and keep them in captivity until they paid the ransom.
The Police spokesman in Zamfara, ASP Yazid Abubakar had confirmed the incident and assured that the Commissioner of Police had directed the operatives to swing into action and rescue the victims.
