Chief Magistrate Ummulkhatum Mohammed of Minna Chief Magistrate court Number One has ordered for the remand of a 24 years old Muzanmil Abubakar for killing his biological father.
The Operatives of the Homicide Squad from the state Criminal investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID), of the Niger State Police Command effected the arrest of Muzanmil and arraigned him before the Minna Chief Magistrate court Number one.
He was standing trial on one count charge bodering on Culpable homicide punishable under section 221 of the penal code law which attract death penalty upon conviction.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR) marked MN/CR/45/2024 which was made available in court and obtained by our reporter, on the 29th,of June, 2024,one Abubakar Abdullahi of Sauka Kahuta area of Minna reported at the Kpakungu Divisional Police Command.
” That on the 28th June,2024 at about 12. Noon, you Muzanmil Abubakar of Model City area Barkin Saleh Minna who was left together with your own father, Abubakar Adawa at home.
” Could not give satisfactory account of the where about of your father when asked despite the searched. Police detectives swung into action and during Investigation a spot was discovered suspected to be a shallow grave.
“And when it was dugged the dead body of your Father was found with legs and hands cut off to which you answered to have administered rat poison substance in to his food.
” Which he ate and became weak and you used a hoe to hit him on his head to death and after which you used a sharp knife to severed his body in to parts to enable you bury him easily.
” It was further revealed that you did that dastard act because your has several times reported you to vigilante group for tortured. You are thereby suspected to have commited the above captioned offence”
When the charge was read to him by the the Presiding Chief Magistrate Hajiya Ummulkhatum Mohammed, he pleaded not guilty.
However, the Police Prosecutor Inspector Bello Mohammed Beji told the court that the legal unit of the Command will forward the case file to the Ministry of Justice for advise and he requested for the remand of the defendant pending the out come of the advise.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate then told the prosecutor to hasten up to forward the case file to the Ministry of Justice while she ordered for his remand and adjougned the case to 18th September 2024 for further mention.
