The Nigerian Institution of Public Relation ( NIPR) Niger State Chapter, has officially revalidated and presented a membership certificate as well as award for excellence to Abubakar A. Tanko, the former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The presentation was done today in a programme tagged” A Legacy of Loyalty: Honouring Abubakar A. Tanko” which took place at the Celebrant House in Minna, Niger State.
In a remarks at the occasion, the Secretary of NIPR Niger State Chapter, Aliyu Jibo described the former Minister as an elder statesman whose contribution to the Development of NIPR can not be over emphasized.
It is against this background , Jibo said the NIPR Niger State Chapter decided to distinguishedly revalidate the former Minister’s membership certificate in recognition of his immense contributions to NIPR.
In his speech, the Chairman of NIPR Niger State Chapter, Mahmud Abdullahi described the former Minister not only as an elder but also a mentor.
He said that the former Minister (Abubakar A. Tanko ) had remained their teacher whose knowledge and wisdom impacted greatly on them as members of the Institute. Pointing out that the Minister’s Professionals advice kept them on track.
Also speaking at the ocassion, a council member of the Institute ( NIPR), Akin Agbejule observed that the award for excellence would have been given 15 years back but for the Minister’s busy schedule during the period under review.
He however appreciated the former Minister for his fartherly advice to the Institute. Stressing that alot needs to be done by NIPR especially in this days of communication challenges both at the Federal and State Level.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of revalidated Membership Certificate and awards for excellence to the celebrant by Suleiman Shehu and Aliyu Dattijjo respectively.
The occasion also recorded Goodwill messages from friends and well wishers including Council Members harping on the former Minister’s dexterity interigerity and transparency at all times.
Responding, the former minister (Abubakar A. Tanko ) expressed satisfaction with the organizers of the occasion and promised to continue to support the NIPR.
