The Executive secretary, Zakat and Endownment Board, Alhaji Mohammed Mohammed Lapai, has appealed to Niger State Ministry of Information and Strategy and relevant Media Agencies under it to intervene towards sensitization and mobilization of the public on the requirements of Zakat principles.
The Executive secretary, observed that the board had in a recent time remain silent and inactive as a result of poor responses of the people towards Divine injunctions for payments of Zakat by Muslims.
Alhaji Lapai, lamented that the Board has suffered paucity of funds, in recent times which was responsible for it seeming in-efficiency, he maintained that even the monthly and standing order on impress for the organization has stopped until recently, pointing out that there was a need for the stakeholders to intervene.
Responding, the then permanent secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Iliyasu Zakari disclosed that the Ministry was always ready to grant all media related request for the promotion of the state virtures and requested the Executive Secretary to liase with the department of Information services to fashion out appropriate coverage and media link of the board to the public.
He thanked the board for the visit, urging it not to despair in its efforts to implementing the Islamic Principles of Zakat.
