Ghana authority has rescued no fewer than eight young Nigerian girls from human trafficker in the country.
The rescued girls, who were within the aged between 15 and 22, are said to be from various states across Nigeria.
According to the source, the teen girl were lured into Ghana under false promises of employment but were forced into sexual exploitation.
It was learnt that, a 28-year-old Nigerian, Ms. Favour Ugwu, one of the traffickers, was arrested and jailed for eight years in prison, by the court in Ghana on account of human trafficking.
Responding, the Chairman/CEO, NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, while receiving the young ladies at the NiDCOM Annex Office in Lagos, thanked the president’s wife, Oluremi Tinubu, for her support in facilitating the return of the girls.
She also acknowledged the significant role of Chief Callistus Elozieuwa, President, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Ghana Chapter, the Nigerian embassy in Ghana and the Interpol Units of Nigeria and Ghana.
Furthermore, Abike said the rescued girls will be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to ensure that they safe and comfortable accommodations pending their formal rehabilitation and reintegration with their families.
