In what can be best described as an appropriate measure to curb the growing tide of illegal proliferation of private institutions of Health in Niger state, proprietor of Purported Excellence College of Health Sciences and Technology, operating in Maikunkele area of Bosso LGA has been nabbed and currently undergoing investigations by the Police.
The culprits identified as -Daniel Ishaya of Gurmana, Shiroro (Proprietor) and Francis Ede of Enugu State (Director) both in police custody, are said to be running the illegal institutions since 2020.
During interrogation, Daniel Ishaya confessed that he established the School in the Year 2020 while he commenced admission in the Year 2021 without any authorization or certification from appropriate government body.
The two suspects have since confessed to be operating the school through a forged certificate of registration to deceive members of the public.
The reporter who interviewed some student victims confirmed that about one hundred students had enrolled into the School at the rate of seventy-eight thousand naira each (N78,000) for tuition fee and other charges.
The Hon Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Baba Aliyu who confirmed this to newsmen in Minna, declined giving further details, stating that the case was already under investigation. He however warned the general public to be weary of illegal proliferation of schools of Health Technology in the state.
The Hon Commissioner then added that when in doubt about the authenticity of any institutions, people should endeavour to confirm from the ministry.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Niger state command, DSP WASIU A. ABIODUN, confirming the incident said “the case is under investigation and the suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as investigation is concluded”.
