The Chairman of Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State, Hon. Abbas Adamu Garba has described as unfortunate the Insecurity occassioned by Bandits in the Local Government Area.
The Council Chairman said this, during a chat with journalists recently, in Minna.
He said although the present administration of Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago, in Niger State is doing its best to end Insecurity, there was a need for them to do more in order to put an end to the activities of Bandits which has caused so much pain to the people of Mariga Local Government Area and his environment.
The Mariga Local Government Chairman Hon. Garba, told journalists that the Bandits were from Zamfara State but using Mariga Local Government Area as their Route to their places of Operations, adding that this development has further exposed the Local Government to continuous attack.
Though the Federal Government had assigned units of Army and Mopol to different areas of Mariga Local Government which includes Kotonkoro, Bangi Area, Konan Dutse and Beeri town, the forest around Mariga Local Government which serves as hideout to Bandits should be raided by the Security operatives.
The Mariga Local Government council Chairman therefore appealed to Government to give an order for the Army and Mobile police to entre into those forest around the Local Government and raid the area.
This is because the era of laying ambush for them along their route no longer produce results.
According to the Council Chairman, if you lay an ambush for the Bandits along this route, they will change to another.
“Therefore, let’s take the battle into their forest and finish them ones and for all”.Garba declared.
Hon. Garba however told journalists that since his assumption of office as the Executive Chairman of Mariga Local Government Area, he has been doing alot to support the security agent in the Local Government Area.
He disclosed that the Local Government under his Leadership has purchased motorcycles for the trained Vigilantees who are presently taken the battle to hideout of the Bandits adding that the Council Chairman also fueled the Vehicle of other security.
Hon. Garba therefore appreciated the contribution of the Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly towards the development of Mariga Local Government Area and Niger state at large.
