NSCDC ADOPTS “ADR” IN RESOLVING NIGER CRISIS

The Niger State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has adopted Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in resolving the recent clash between the youths in Kwangila and Keterengwari areas of Minna.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSC. Mohammed Rabiu Muti disclosed this in Minna during a Press Release on 4th April 2025.

He maintained that the ADR will go a long way to resolve different communal clashes that constitute insecurity within Minna metropolis.

According to him, when the crisis broke out between the youths in Kwangila and Keterengwari areas of Minna, the NSCDC personnel who were dispatched to the area found a crowded scene and managed to disperse them peacefully

The timely intervention of the NSCDC officers was what he said restore normalcy to the crisis communities.

He however urge the public to disregard false claims circulating on social media, alleging that the NSCDC personnel shot someone while trying to resolved the crisis between the youths of Kwangila and Ketrengwari area.

In resolving the different clashes,  the state Commandant of the NSCDC, Adamu Abdullahi Kambra stated that the command will employed several conflict resolution mechanisms, including:

Mediation

The NSCDC met with community leaders from both areas to facilitate dialogue and find a mutually acceptable solution.

Problem-Solving:-

We worked with the community leaders to identify the root causes of the conflict and develop strategies to address them.

Communication:

We emphasized the importance of responsible communication, urging the leaders to caution their words and avoid spreading misinformation that could fuel tensions.

Collaboration:

We’re committed to working with the community leaders to find a lasting solution to the issues affecting both areas.

However, high-level meeting is scheduled soon, we will continue to work with the community leaders to consolidate the peace process.

“The Niger State Command of the NSCDC is committed to transparency and peacekeeping and we’ll do everything in our power to ensure that peace and order are maintained in Minna.” DSC declared

He however appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the people of Minna and other security agencies and we assure them of our commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.
