No fewer than three lecturers of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has been dismissed by the Management over sexual harassment.

This was revealed in a memo titled: DISMISSAL OF STAFF MEMBERS DUE TO SEXUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS. The decisive action by Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) was in response to the allegations of sexual harassment involving three staff members. “After a thorough investigation and deliberation, the council has approved the dismissal.” the management disclosed

“This decision, which is effective immediately, is in accordance with Section 5.5.2(v) of the University Senior Staff Conditions of Service,” the memo reads.

The university reiterated its stance against allegations of sexual harassment, describing the dismissal of the three lecturers as a reflection of its commitment to tackle the upsurge of sexual harassment.

“The university takes allegations of sexual harassment seriously, as they compromise the institution’s image and disrupt the academic environment. The Governing Council’s decision reflects the university’s commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful campus community,” the memo adds.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Olanrewaju Kuye, confirmed the dismissal in a chat with our correspondent, saying it was decided by the institution disciplinary committee.
