The Kogi State Police Command has commenced investigating into the alleged food poisoning that killed two persons in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State
According to the sources, the deceased identified as Sheriff Salifu and Blessing Adams passed away in the early hours of Friday.
The Kogi Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Ovye Aya, who confirmed the incident said that “the Police will definitely get to the root of the matter.”
“It is a case of sudden and unnatural death. Today at about 12:00 hours, one Salisu Ibrahim from Alo in Ankpa came to the station and reported that at about 09:31, his tenant, one Sheriff Salifu (deceased), did not come out of his room as usual.
“So, the brother of the deceased entered the room through the ceiling and found his brother, Sheriff Salifu, and one Blessing Adama of Ojogobi Road, Ankpa, lying lifeless in the room. Both deceased were seen naked.
It was on this ground that the Divisional Police Officer in Ankpa detailed detectives, and they moved to the scene where they saw the bodies, took photographs, and transported the deceased persons to the zonal hospital in Ankpa, where they were confirmed dead.
“But the family of Sheriff requested that the body should be released to them. So, he has been buried according to Islamic rites, while the remains of Blessing Adama are still deposited at the mortuary,” he said.
