The resuscitation of Bosso Dam will address Water scarcity in Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State.
This was the submission of Hon. Member representing Bosso Local Government Area in the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Abubakar Suleiman Gomna, during a chat with Journalist recently in his office.
Hon. Gomna said Bosso Local Government Area, is a developed and highly populated town but despite its proximity to the state capital portable water scarcity has been it’s major problem.
The distinguished Lawmaker stated that although there was a Dam constructed over 40 years ago in the Local Government but it has not been performing optimally.
This dysfunctional state of the Dam which has led to persistent portable water scarcity in Bosso Local Government, the Hon. Member said subjected the residents of Bosso and it’s environs to the patronage of water vendors/ peddlers popularly known as Yan ga Ruwa, as the source of water was elusive to them.

According to Hon. Gomna, ” Water is Life and if the issue of portable water scarcity was not addressed in a place like Bosso Local Government, residents of the area were at risk of contracting water Borne diseases”.
It is against this background the Hon. Member said he sponsored a Bill tagged
“Urgent need to rehabilitate Bosso Dam”.
Though the Bills must go through all the legislative processes, Hon Gomna.
promised he would do everything possible including lobbying the relevant agencies to ensure the bill sees the light of the day
According to the lawmaker, ” Bosso Dam must be rehabilitated as the people of Bosso Local Government Area must have access to portable water supply.
“For this reason I was elected and so will not to give up until a new and developed Bosso Local Government Area is achieved.Gomna declared.
The lawmaker therefore appealed to his people to continue to remain patient restraining all hardship arising from scarcity of water as the Government was doing everything humanly possible to achieve portable water supply to the Constituency.
