The Niger State House of Assembly has reiterated its unwavering commitment to collaborating with relevant security agencies in the state, underscoring the importance of synergy in ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.
This assurance was made by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Barr. Dr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, during a courtesy visit from the Acting Assistant Controller-General (ACG) and Zonal Coordinator of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Zone ‘D’ Headquarters, Minna, Garba Tsalha Abubakar (FIPMA).
The Speaker extended a warm welcome to Garba Tsalha Abubakar, expressing his enthusiasm to tap into his vast experience in enhancing the effectiveness of the correctional service in the state.
He reaffirmed the 10th Assembly’s dedication to supporting and synergizing with the Nigerian Correctional Service, encouraging them to share challenges and needs for collaborative solutions. The Speaker highlighted the Assembly’s notable achievements, including the recent passage of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, a landmark legislation aimed at improving the administration of justice into the state.
Additionally, he mentioned ongoing efforts to amend the Thuggery Law, a critical step towards addressing the issue of prison congestion in Minna and ensuring that justice is served efficiently across the state.
The Acting ACG, Garba Tsalha Abubakar, commended the Speaker and members of the 10th Assembly for the warm reception and acknowledged the Assembly’s legislative efforts. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and support, recognizing the interdependence of the legislature, executive, and judiciary in ensuring the success of the correctional service and promoting a safe and secure environment for citizens.
