The Niger State Government has decried the weak, dilapitated and unfunctional structure of the Agencies and departments under the Ministry of Livestocks and Fisheries.
Speaking during a chat with Achievers Magazine in his office recently, the Commissioner of Livestocks and Fisheries, Hon. Ibrahim Mami IJah, maintained that the Agencies and Departments under the Ministry were not functioning commiserate with the investment committed into them by the past administration which calls for a deliberate refurbishment and resuscitation.

Hon. Ijah, regretted that colossal sum of money were sunk into the Livestocks activities in the past without tangible evidence to show for it. The Commissioner therefore disclosed that the Ministry under the Leadership of Rt. Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago was resolved to seek viable and functional partnership with interested local and foreign Investors to boost livestocks production for National and International consumption.

It could be recalled that the data from the National Bereau of Statistics ( NBS) shows that between 2014 and 2017, Nigeria spent trillions of Naira on live animals imports.
This the Hon. Commissioner described as unfortunate and would not Survive Rt. Hon. Umar Mohammed Bago led administration.

“Although, the challenges before us were production of millions of metric tonnes of Fisheries and Livestocks the Niger State Ministry of Livestocks and Fisheries under the leadership of Gov.
