Following the Nigeria military raid on forests near Kurutu village, close to Azzara in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State, eight corpses suspected to belong to bandits were discovered.
Earlier, it reported that soldiers targeted two bandit camps located in the Kurutu and Hayin-Dam forests, which border Kagarko and Kachia LGAs, resulting in the deaths of several bandits while others fled with gunshot wounds.
Abdullahi, a vigilante from Kurutu, indicated that farmers found the eight corpses on Monday in the vicinity of Hayin-Dam. Upon receiving this information, vigilantes from Kurutu and Hayin-Dam mobilized to the forests to verify the discovery.
He said, “On Monday, around 11am, some farmers who went to the farm, saw some corpses riddled with bullets suspected to be that of bandits that escaped with bullet injuries when soldiers raided their camps at Kurutu and Hayin-Dam on Friday.”
A community leader in the area also confirmed the discovery of the eight corpses.
He said, “Some farmers who went to the farm rushed back home to report that some corpses riddled with bullets were found in the forest and I alerted some vigilantes. They went and video their corpses for me.”
