The committee on the New National Minimum wage who adjourned it’s meeting yesterday to allow the Minister of Finance to provide a template on the new wage as directed by the President would reconvene today.
Asource close to the negotiation team said the compilation of the figures as directed on Tuesday by the President was part of the reasons the Organized Labour called off their Strike that led to a Nationwide blackout on Monday.
The Labour Union before now was demanding #494,000, while the Federal Government and the Organized private sector offered #60,000..
” We just discussed general things today, by tommorrow we will resume the negotiation. We believe the template which will serve as a bases for our tommorrow’s meeting must have been presented to the President as directed by him”
However, the former Director General of Vioce of Nigeria, Osita okechukwu, described the #494,000 demand by Labour ” unrealistic”
He then advised against increasing Minimum wage to a level it would affect the current financial situation of the country.
