The Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has announced one month suspension for three of his commissioners who failed to attend a crucial State Executive Council meeting without prior permission.
The suspended officials include Hon. Solomon Azi, the Commissioner for Grants and Donor Agencies, Victor Chukwu, who oversees the Environment sector, and Ikeuwa Omebe, the Commissioner for Rural Development.
It was reported that Governor Nwifuru took this action after the Council meeting, where the three commissioners were notably absent without any explanation.
The Honourable Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Jude Okpor shared the decision at a briefing on Tuesday.
According to him, Governor Nwifuru made it clear that absenteeism and unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated, urging public servants to maintain commitment to their duties.
The Governor also directed that the suspended commissioners would not enjoy the benefits and privileges associated with their roles during their suspension period.
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Governor has warned contractors working on state projects to ensure they meet deadlines and adhere strictly to the terms of their contracts.
He stated that the government would not hesitate to use legal means to ensure compliance.
