The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have achieved another significant milestone in the ongoing fight against Insecurity, with the arrest of not fewer than 120 suspects for thuggery and other related crimes in the State.
The State Commissioner of Police, Cp. Mohammed Usaini Gumel who confirmed this development said the suspects were arrested within a period of one Month March 2024).
According to SP. Abdullahi Haruna , the Spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force Kano State Command, “the State Commissioner of Police said that out of the 120 arrest effected, thuggery rank high as 55 suspects were in connection with Thuggery.
Speaking further, the Kano State Police Boss emphasized on the Strategies employed by the command which includes employment of Robust Community Policing engagements at tactical and Operational levels which saw the setting- up of more Anti- Daba units at Dorayi flash point.
” Through the use of this crime Control initiatives, the Kano State police Command succeeded in distrupting chains of attempts by criminals and arrested several thuggery kingpins, seized several illicit weapons and prevented Commission crime.
Moreso, the command had arrested and dismantled various kidnappers den and rescued the Victims. Other offences including armed robbery, theft and illicit drugs dealings were all curtailed through increased patrol and engaging in various intelligent led operation.”
” Out of 120 suspects arrested within one month ( March 1-31st) , 55 suspects were thugs( Yan Dana) , twenty (20) suspected Thieves, Fifteen (15) Armed Robbery suspects, Ten(10) Drug dealer and Four (4) Kidnapping suspects among others.
” We succeeded in rescuing three(3) Kidnapping Victims and recovery of fifteen (15) rounds of AK-47 Live ammunition, twenty- four(24) locally made Dane Guns, Twenty – eight(28) knives, Ten(10) cutlass and seven(7) irons ( Dand Bida) etc.
