It was garther that George may be making a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after his brief stint as head coach of the Super Eagles.
The former Ajax winger Finidi George resigned from the Super Eagles position after only 40 days, citing conflicts with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
According to reports from the Nation, Rivers United is considering George for the role of head coach.
The NPFL club is looking to revamp their coaching staff following a disappointing conclusion to their season.
Rivers United had a strong start, reaching the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they were eventually knocked out by USM Alger from Algeria.
Despite their promising beginning, the team struggled in the league, ending the season outside the top positions and missing out on a continental competition spot for the first time in three years.
