The administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has officially removed the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, as the Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council.
The announcement for the leadership change was made on Saturday by Governor Soludo at the International Convention Centre, Awka, during the launch of the “Operation Udo Ga-Chi” security initiative.
Igwe Chidubem Iweka, the traditional ruler of Obosi and a renowned author has been announced as replacement.
Responding to the development, Igwe Achebe however extended his congratulations to Eze Iweka III on his appointment as the new Obi of Onitsha, expressing his support.
According to the Mr Governor, your appointment was based on extensive consultation, which becomes your mandate to lead the TRC on a solid foundation. As your predecessor, I offer my full support and encouragement to you always in your capacity as chairman.
“I was not disposed for today’s meeting due to a clash with a prior commitment in Lagos, of which Mr Governor was aware. I wish you very well,” Achebe said in a statement on Sunday.
