The Nigerian cyclist, Ese Lovina Ukpeseraye competed at the 2024 Paris Olympic despite facing a major obstacle of not have a bicycle to race with in the keirin and sprint events.
The cyclists who was unexpectedly called upon to represent Nigeria, revealed on social media that Team Nigeria had failed to provide her with a bicycle in time for the competition.
According to him, in a display of true sportsmanship, the German cycling team stepped in to assist Ukpeseraye by offering her one of their own bicycles so she could participate.
Despite not advancing to the next round, Ukpeseraye made history as the first Nigerian cyclist to compete in track cycling events at the Olympic Games.
Her inspiring performance has paved the way for other Nigerian cyclists and sparked a wave of pride and support from her countrymen.
