The Chairman of Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, Hon. Iliyasu Zakari has been applauded for his relentless effort towards the success of the All Progressives Congress in his Local Government during the just Concluded 2023 general election.
The Niger North Progressives Forum Chairman , Barrister Abubakar Mohammed said this while addressing journalists recently, in Minna.
He said the people of Agwara Local Government area massively voted for the All Progressives Congress candidates in the 2023 general election because of Hon. Iliyasu Zakari, whose immense contribution towards the development of the Local Government can not be over emphasis.
The Forum Chairman informed newsmen that, while Hon. Iliyasu Zakari was still a civil servant, his contribution towards the development of Agwara Local Government Area was more than the elected office officeholders from the local government
Therefore, when the All Progressives Congress stakeholders in Agwara Local Government made him the party consensus candidate for the Local Government Chairmanship Seat while he was still the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information, it was very easy for him to emerge victorious during the council election in Niger State.
The entrance of Hon iliyasu Zakari into the political arena of Agwara Local Government Area finally change the political narration of the Local Government which had hitherto been in favour of Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).
Although , PDP sees Agwara Local Government Area as there political stronghold with the party candidate, Barr. Ahmad Bello holding sway to the Local Government House of Assembly Seat for the past 16 years but the popularity of Hon. Iliyasu Zakari paved way for the All Progressives Congress candidate to defeat him during the just concluded 2023 general election.
While the APC supporters are busy celebrating their victory , the PDP are yet to recover from the shocking defeat they suffered in Agwara Local Government Area during the just concluded general election
Therefore, ” for APC to have defeated Hon. Saidu Bello Agwara who survived President Buhari hurricane in 2015 , Hon. Iliyasu Zakari has proven to be JAGABAN of AGWARA POLITICS
