The US Vice President, Kamala Harris has formally accepted Democratic presidential nomination, pledging to unite the United States and bring pragmatic leadership to the White House if elected in November.
In her keynote address on the final night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, 59 years old said “On behalf of everyone whose story could only be written in the greatest nation on earth, I accept your nomination to be president of the United States of America,”
“And I want you to know; I promise to be a president for all Americans,” she said.
“I will be a president who unites us around our highest aspirations.”
She vowed to be a president who leads and listens, and is “realistic” and “practical”.
According to her, she will be a president who “has common sense” and “always fights for the American people”.
The convention erupted into a celebratory gathering, marking Harris’s remarkable rise to prominence.
