NEW COMMISSIONERS OF POLICE FOR BOTH ANAMBRA AND TARABA STATE COMMANDS

The appointment of new Commissioners of Police for both the Taraba and Anambra State Commands by the Police Service Commission is seen as the right steps in the right direction

The move was part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to enhance effective policing and uphold law and order across the nation.

A seasoned officer from Abia State, Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Taraba State. He will succeeds CP Peter Oparah, who has been redeployed to another assignment.

Cp. Ariekpere is expected to brings wealth of his experience in crisis management and community engagement, which will elevate the professionalism of the Taraba State Command.

Similarly, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, a highly decorated officer from Bayelsa State, has been appointed the new Commissioner of Police for Anambra State. He takes over from Obong Nnache Itam, who has completed his tenure. Orutugu’s expertise in intelligence gathering and crime prevention is expected to bolster Anambra State’s security framework.

DIG Hashimu Argungu, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, urged the new Commissioners to swiftly adapt to their new roles and ensure there are no gaps that could lead to a breakdown in law and order. He emphasized the importance of their dedication and commitment to duty, particularly in the fight against banditry and criminal activities.

Argungu also assured that the Commission would continue to monitor the conduct of the new Commissioners and provide the necessary support to help them succeed in these critical roles. He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to equipping the Nigeria Police Force to effectively address the country’s security challenges.
