In continuation of it’s oversight function mandate, the Niger State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, led by it’s Chairman, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Bello Bako, visited Munya, Shiroro and Bosso Local Government Areas to measure Budget performance and to ascertained the level of compliance with year 2024 appropriation law.
During the visit, Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Bako emphasized that the oversight function is not intended to challenge or embarrass local leaders but rather to ensure their records are properly kept and maintained. He acknowledged that no one is perfect and that the committee and local government councils are partners in progress.
In their separate contributions, committee Members, Hon. Engr. Mohammed A. Haruna, Hon. Arch. Abubakar Suleiman Gomna, and Hon. Murtala Adamu Badaru, commended the councils’ chairmen for their effort to ensure proper documentation and record-keeping. They advised the chairmen to focus on projects that will have direct impact on their communities.
The chairmen of Bosso, Munya, and Shiroro Local Government Areas, Hon. Ladidi Bawa Bosso, Hon. Aminu Abdulhamaid Najume, and Hon. Akilu Kuta thanked the committee members for the visit, which they believe will help them put their documents and records in order, they assured the Committee of their commitment to delivering more democratic dividends to their people thereby complementing the efforts of Farmer Governor Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago’s administration.
