The Niger State  Urban Development Board has commenced the demolition of distressed buildings in Kwasuwan Gwari Market  Area of Minna, Niger State capital.

The  General manager of Urban Development Board, Arc. Bako Ismail Mohammed who supervised the demolition disclosed to  Journalist that the Board decided to embark on the exercise in order to  facilitate traffic flow on the ever busy market road.

According to Arc. Bako, the government was compelled to resort to the demolition of the structures to protect lives as most of the buildings, mobile shops were structured along the road  which it  difficult for motorists and others

“Three months notice was given to all the affected persons but they ignored it”

Calling on others traders who has been served noticed to take the initiative of pulling down the structures by themselves and not wait for the government to do so as part of effort to protect their properties.


Arc. Bako how ever assured that the administration of Farmer Governor Umar Mohammed Bago would continue to cherish the lives of residents of the state, regardless of their tribe or religion.

Stressing that the life of every Nigerlites is of great value as the governor is passionate to rebrand Niger through the initiative of new Niger policy.

However, some of the affected traders lamented that they had occupied the market area for years and had no place to move to instead government could have provided them with alternatives space to continue their businesses because many families have their means of livelihood destroyed.
