The gunmen who allegedly attacked Ishieke Police in Ishieke, a suburb of Abakaliki have met there Waterloo in the hands of Joint Security Team.
It was reported that the gunmen assaulted the Ishieke Police Station in Ishieke, a suburb of Abakaliki, the state capital.
Upon arrival, the gunmen engaged in a prolonged shootout with police officers on duty which lasted for several hours.
According to reports, the incident began around 9 pm and was marked by intense gunfire, prompting residents to seek shelter.
The exchange of fire between the gunmen and the police officers at the station continued for over 30 minutes until reinforcements from other security agencies arrived and 5 of the Gunmen were killed .
The escalating situation attracted additional security personnel, including a significant deployment of soldiers who intervened to apprehend the attackers.
Although the gunmen attempted to retreat, firing shots as they fled towards Odomoke Ishieke market along Nwiboko Obodo road but security forces pursued them vigorously, eventually neutralizing the assailants.
