The Operation Hadin Kai Troops supported by the Hybrid Force and Civilian Joint Task Force on Saturday reportedly neutralised Boko Haram terrorists and the notorious commander Abu Rijab, in the Sambisa Forest, Borno State.
The operation targeted the terrorists’ camp in the Bula Daloje area of Bama Local Government Area, resulting in the elimination of key insurgent leaders.
According to the Counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region Zagazola Makama, intelligence sources revealed that the troops’ incursion into the terrorist enclave was met with resistance.
“Insurgents staged an ambush en route, which resulted to heavy gunbattle but the troops successfully fought back, killing several terrorists and forcing others to withdraw.
The operation yielded the recovery of two AK-47 rifles and a mobile phone, a notable achievement in the ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the Lake Chad region.
However, one member of the Hybrid Force was struck by gunfire during the operation paid the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
