NSHA CONDUCTS INTERFACE WITH HEALTHCARE FACILITIES…

The Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Health, Nutrition, and Primary Healthcare and Member Representing Paikoro Constituency, Hon. Pharm. Umar Nasir, led Members of the Committee on an interface with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) and Medical Directors of Secondary Healthcare facilities in the state at the Assembly Complex in Minna.

According to Hon. Pharm. Umar Nasir, the interface is part of the Committee’s oversight function to improve the healthcare system in Niger State. He emphasized that the exercise is not intended to witch-hunt anyone but to identify areas of improvement and collaborate with healthcare facilities to enhance service delivery.

The interface involved Medical Directors from General Hospitals in Wushishi, Kagara, Bangi, Tungan Magajiya, Kontagora, and New Bussa.

The Committee reviewed various documents, including:

– Laboratory and pharmacy records
– Bank statements of financial transactions and receipts
– NHIS reports
– Other relevant documents for the last six months (October 2024 – March 2025)

Dr. Ndagi Umar, Medical Director, General Hospital Wushishi, and Secretary of all Medical Directors in Niger State, highlighted challenges faced by general hospitals, including:

– Lack of imprest for over 10 years
– No diesel to power generators
– Manpower shortages.

Dr. Ndagi expressed gratitude to Hon. Pharm. Umar Nasir and the Committee for the interface, stating that it will bring clarity to the public and the Committee.

Pharm. Nasir assured that the Committee aims to partner with healthcare facilities to address the challenges and improve the healthcare system in Niger State.
