The Niger State House of Assembly has considered and passed into law a private member bill for the establishment of the Niger State Rail-Line Corporation.
This development follows the presentation of the Joint Committees on Transport and Judiciary and Legal Matters’ report, chaired by Hon. Ahmed Mohammed (Edati).
The report highlighted the bill’s objectives, including providing an alternative and cheaper means of transporting goods and services. The proposed corporation aligns with the New Niger Agenda of the present administration, aiming to reduce the burden on roads.
The House unanimously adopted the bill’s recommendations and passed it into law. The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda, who presided over today’s plenary commended the joint committees for their efforts and directed the Clerk of the House to transmit the law to the Executive for assent.
In another development, the House passed a private member bill to amend the Niger State College of Education Law, 2011.
The amendment bill seeks to rename the institution to Dr. Umar Sanda Ahmadu College of Education, Minna.
