The Security operatives in Anambra State have a 38-year-old nurse identified as Amarachukwu Nzekwe, for brutalising her 13-year-old nephew with a heated laundry iron.
The Media Aide to the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Chidimma Ikeanyionwu disclosed this in a press statement issued on Wednesday.
The suspect, a native of Ezinifite in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, was arrested by security operatives in collaboration with the state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare after the incident went viral on social media.
During interrogation, the suspect said she was only disciplined her nephew after he stole from her.
Reacting after rescuing the boy, the Women Affairs Commissioner, Ify Obinabo, who was visibly angry over the incident, assured that justice would be gotten for the little boy.
Obinabo went further to warn intending offenders to desist forthwith or face the law as such dastardly acts will not be tolerated in the state.
As of the time of this report, the suspect has been handed over to the police for further investigation and consequently charged the case to court.
