The Niger State Chapter of Young Farmers Association of Nigeria ( YFAN) has called on the administration of Farmer Mohammed Umar Bago to do more in supporting young Farmers in the State to successfully tackle emerging Food insecurity.
The Niger State Coordinator of Young Farmers Association of Nigeria, Kabiru Mohammed Danbaba made the call recently in Minna while highlighting the achievements as well as the challenges facing the Association in the State.
Danbaba said that the Niger State Chapter of YFAN will continue to play a major role in the agricultural transformation of Farmer Mohammed Umar Bago’s administration hence the need for continuous support by the Government
He said although YFAN in Niger State was controlling over 125,000 hectares of Farmlands across the 25 Local Government Areas of the State but there is the need for Government support in order to improve on the agricultural productivity .
To this ends, he said that the Niger State Chapter of YFAN has been organizing alot of Seminars and Workshops to educate the Members on how to increase Food production but there was the need for critical Government support in the area of providing the necessary Farming implements like tractors, Fertilizers, Drone as well as soft loans for intending Farmers.
Emphasizing on the need for formidable policies and strategies among others to boost agricultural production and productivity.
The Niger State Coordinator of YFAN however appealed to the Farmer Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago to prioritize the support for the Association which has over 65,000 members across the 25 LGAs of the State in order to achieve Food Security.
