No fewer than three notorious armed robbers were neutralised by security personnel in the Filin-Dabo village area of Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) Abuja.
The midnight joint operation, was carried out by the FCT Police Command, military personnel, and local vigilantes recently.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the FCT Command, SP. Josephine Adeh, the operation also led to the recovery of weapons and other incriminating items.
In a statement released on Thursday, Adeh explained that the operation was launched after a distress call was received at 11:50pm by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dei-Dei ‘A’ Division, reporting an ongoing violent robbery in the area.
Speaking further, she said that the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in collaboration with operatives from the 102 Battalion, Guards Brigade, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and local vigilantes, swiftly mobilised to the scene.
Josephine explained that upon arrival, security operatives encountered the six-member gang attempting to flee into the surrounding bushes while launching an ambush on the responding team.
However, the joint forces retaliated with superior firepower, leading to a fierce gun battle.
